If something I say sounds insane it's usually a shitpost, but if you wanna be sure u can ask (It will give me feedback to add notation so that I can be sure it's not misunderstood)

I can be weird and lewd here, I usually try to CW stuff correctly, mostly succeed but viewer discretion is advised, I am not strictly mDNI but I def would require not interacting with lewd posts, and I will block if I realize that this is happening.
Also lewd stuff I post are usually jokes, I am in a monogamous relationship so do NOT try to unironically hit on me. Ironically is fine if I know you and its all for jokes.

just my point is that
this seems like an overcomplicated setup just to avoid conflicts which would still require handling them by creating unique slugs for redirects

so like
lets say you have a post "top 10 computars" which you do every year
you can either do just, top-10-computars-{year}, so you handle slugs conflicts by appending year
or do top-10-computers-{id}
both would handle conflicts, but in second case, if you want to have shorter url to that
you still have to specify the redirect that's unique, so you basically have to do the exact thing as in the first case, just setting it as a redirect instead of using it as a direct link

Maybe in some setups it makes sense but rn I can't really

what would be the point of using ID's if slug has to be unique anyway
unless you mean using it for those blog posts that have the same original slug and then just using additional unique slugs to distinguish between those
but then that still seems like doing more work tbh
unless using /blog/slug -> /blog/id redirect
idk maybe I'm overthinking this, I just have my thing setup in a way that slug = name of the file in a folder so maybe I'm just not taking into account how other's setup their sites lol

I think I misunderstood what you meant here, but what I thought with it working without their ID was that /blog/something would redirect to /blog/something-id, in which case the ID would not help with conflicts since there would still be the same slug
