If something I say sounds insane it's usually a shitpost, but if you wanna be sure u can ask (It will give me feedback to add notation so that I can be sure it's not misunderstood)
I can be weird and lewd here, I usually try to CW stuff correctly, mostly succeed but viewer discretion is advised, I am not strictly mDNI but I def would require not interacting with lewd posts, and I will block if I realize that this is happening. Also lewd stuff I post are usually jokes, I am in a monogamous relationship so do NOT try to unironically hit on me. Ironically is fine if I know you and its all for jokes.
Few statements that I believe so if u dont believe you might not like me and I might not like you: - Trans rights (I mean ALL trans rights. Transfem, masc, enby, anything else too, you are all valid) - Gay rights - Queer rights - MAPs aren't queers. Pedophilia is not a sexuality. - Privacy matters
@h I once got unsolicited call from bank and when i said i dont have questions he said "supcio" which is basically polish cool beans and i felt like I was gonna explode
god i need a fucking job but my schedule is so full of fucking around and doing bullshit how doni time budget this (if ur giving hiring please contact me and give me job i love you)
I love Balatro community Cus ofc a math nerd game brings in insane amount of queer people so when someone donated to GDQ with "trans rights" everyone clapped and repeated it
@sodiboo@4censord@eri@makuru Personally I would even classify that type of pause as an mechanic, even if very barely. Going back to the topic, in case of Super Mario Bros, I would classify getting infinite (*) lives, and only doing that as a way to postpone getting between our primitive QTE's in terms of Bowser fights (personally I feel them being easy or not is kinda irrelevant, they still demand some level of reflex, ig with the exception of being able to pretty much learn and skip the section almost instantly with one good jump, but I would say that still constitutes to being like learning a specific QTE sequence), I would constitute that a form of pause, at least in terms of "being able to leave and come back to it later", kinda like pausing in the middle of a regular rhythm game. But even if we do assume that this doesn't mean it's a pause, games like Osu still can have pretty long periods of inactivity, due to maps being made by community, anyone can just put 10 hour break inside. Still makes the game a rhythm game, even if makes map stupid (yet hilarious I gotta admit) as shit.
Now one could argue that SMB doesn't have custom maps, so it depends entirely on the mechanics that were done specifically at game design level, but I shall say that it's just cus nintendo devs were just silly goobers that wanted to play Osu but were too mid at the game so they had to put in long breaks between their QTE's
@sodiboo@4censord@eri@makuru I'd consider pausing to be game mechanic as well, after all it's still implemented inside the game, as a part of it Ofc not counting external causes of pausing, like freezes, setting system to sleep etc. But pausing is, in a way, a game mechanic You can use it to your advantage, disadvantage, it can impact directly or indirectly your gameplay Ofc it depends on the game itself, some just stop and thats it, but some contain info, cause game behaviour to do something (small example: osu on pause and unpause gives 3 seconds head start, idk if useable for anything, but it does something beyond the pause) But even simple stop button can be seen as a game mechanic, ofc this is pedantic as shit but thats the point
@sodiboo@4censord@eri@makuru "The timer can run out and you'll respawn in current level as long as you have lives left (and you can farm lives indefinitely). This gives an indefinite break between world endings." Yeah but once u farm lives specifically for purpose of getting indefinite breaks, then at that point I'd consider it functionally similar to pausing the game, which you can do in most rhythm games as well
@sodiboo@4censord@eri@makuru doesn't SMB 1 have mutiple bowser fights at the end of each world? Maybe I remember wrongly but I recall it did. Regardless, world-length breaks aren't really indefinite, since the game has a timer.
However I am willing to accept that Kitsune Tails fits rhythm game definition more, but since it's a clone of Super Mario Bros like all games are, it counts
@sodiboo@4censord@eri@makuru im mostly shitposting but tbh funny thought what exactly constitutes QTE in Bowser fights in SMB you have to make rather quick inputs to get further, meaning it's an QTE and also since there are multiple bowser fights, that technically means that there's a larger Quick-Time Arc, separated by world-length breaks See, rhythm game
@sodiboo@4censord@eri@makuru OSU has rests in middle of levels too also I didn't say SMB is an rhythm game but The video game (ignore pong) as in all games are derivatives of it everything's a copy of SMB including my favourite rhythm game Super Mario 64
